The Floaty / Floaty Pro is the base, designed to handle 75–85% of your phone’s weight using a closed-cell buoyancy material similar to what’s used in marine life jackets. This material does not absorb water, ensuring consistent lift every time. The base attaches directly to your phone using industrial-grade N52 MagSafe magnets, as long as your device is MagSafe compatible or has a metal ring or ring magnet. For larger phones like the Pro Max, Floaty Pro is recommended since it provides additional buoyancy. Connected to the base is the Floating Dice module—a dice-shaped foam float that serves as both an aesthetic element and functional support. It provides the remaining buoyancy needed to keep your phone within its rated floating capacity. If your phone falls into the water, it stays just below the surface while the Floating Dice remains visible above, making it easy to spot and retrieve.

The connector strap (Mechanical Security Clip) is a secondary tether included with every Floaty. The magnetic connection is strong for everyday use, but a hard impact against a rock, boat edge, or similar surface could cause the phone to separate from Floaty before hitting the water. The clip prevents this. Use it every time — normal and extreme situations alike.

No. Floaty is a flotation and retrieval accessory — the Floating Dice keeps your phone tethered and visible above the surface. Your phone's own water resistance rating (IP67, IP68, etc.) is what protects the internals. A phone with a compromised seal may sustain water damage even with Floaty.

Floaty works with most smartphones. The key factor is total weight. Check the weight rating on the product page and compare it to your combined setup — phone, case, tempered glass, and any other accessories. If the total weight exceeds the rated limit, flotation may be reduced or even fail. Exact weight limits will be listed when pre-sale opens.

Yes. Floaty does not require Apple MagSafe specifically — it works with any phone that has a circular magnetic ring on the back. Many Android devices and third-party cases already include this. If your phone or case doesn't have one, a thin metal magnetic ring can be purchased separately and attached to the back of your case, giving any phone full compatibility with Floaty.

Yes, but check the weight limit first. Thick and rugged cases add significant weight. If your total setup exceeds Floaty's limit, consider Floaty Pro.

The main difference is weight capacity. Floaty Pro is designed for heavier phones, thicker cases, or more demanding water activities. Both include the magnetic attachment system, Floating Dice, and Mechanical Security Clip. Exact weight ratings will be shown when pre-sale opens.
